Getting Started with Blooming Abilities

What does the initial process involve?

At Blooming Abilities, we are dedicated to exploring and discovering what makes your child unique - both the strengths and the challenges, and find super practical supports to help them (and you) flourish, connect and thrive!

If you are interested in exploring an Occupational Therapy assessment, below is the plan we typically follow to get started (it is a 3-part initial process to support both you and your child):

  1. Initial session (includes referral/consent form & sometimes      questionnaires for parents to complete).  This first 50 minute session is with adults only is to understand more about child’s strengths, challenges and goals for OT support.  NOTE: The fee also includes a written summary report of the assessment and      recommendations that will be shared after the 3rd session.  This      session for adults only is virtual, as that is typically preferred to fit      into your full schedule.
  2. In-person session with you and your child (50 mins) - in      Crescentwood area of Winnipeg.  This session could also be completed virtually, but in-person is often preferred.  Air purifiers are used in the space, masks are optional.  Please only come if you and your child are healthy.
  3. Virtual session with you as parent(s)/guardian(s) to discuss the previous sessions and determine next steps and future goals together (50 mins).  Sometimes the next steps include in-person sessions with the child, and sometimes it includes virtual parent coaching sessions to support YOU as you support your child, and often there is a combination of both together.
