It is all about GROUNDING!
Grounding practices bring us back to the HERE & NOW… the present moment
… not the future
…. not the past
… just awareness of what IS… right now… and being with what is, and noticing where we are and noticing our body and our sensations.
When we get future-focused, we can become overwhelmed or worried.
When we ruminate on the past, we can become overcome by emotions of the past such as guilt, fear, sadness or another emotion.
These past or future thoughts and spark strong emotions that can trigger the flight/fright/freeze response and makes us feel like we are unsafe and in danger.
Focusing on your CURRENT surroundings can remind you that you are SAFE!!
When we are with the present moment and back in our body it calms our nervous system and we are able to get out of the fight or flight response.
Try noticing with you 5 external senses – seeing, feeling, hearing, smelling and tasting.
Feet on the ground for another grounding... best with bare feet if you that is enjoyable for you!
