The four types of sensory processing as in the pictures above are:
Seekers– who actively seek MORE sensory input and enjoy sensory input
Avoiders– who actively AVOID sensory input and are bothered by some sensory input
Sensors– who notice MORE sensory input, and tolerate it… until they explode/overflow
Low Registers - who notice LESS sensory input and need more input to be engaged
** (and remember, they CAN be different among the eight senses) **

I had worked with children for over ten years as an Occupational Therapist before becoming a mother, but through motherhood and my little ones I learned SO. SO. SO. much more and am delighted and honoured to share some of my knowledge and insights with you to support you in understanding some of your littles ones unique behaviours, and how understanding sensory processing can help you to best meet their sensory processing needs!
Sensory processing basically means making sense of the senses we are taking in and experiencing, and how it might affect your babies or your toddlers interactions with you and the world around them.
In other words, something happens in the world around us… one of our senses takes in the information, our brain processing it, and then we have an action (or a behaviour)… and this new world is very big and can be very overwhelming for some of our kiddos.
Are you feeling overwhelmed trying to understand your child’s behaviour, emotions and sensory differences?
